At Home in Lowry

Welcome to Lowry, Denver’s Vibrant Neighborhood

With a past rich in history, Lowry is a mixed use Denver community with large open spaces, terrific dining options and a vibrant Town Center. This is a friendly, planned community that is growing to meet the needs of those who choose to live here. When you’re in Lowry, you’re at home.

A Rich History

In the mid 1800’s what is now Lowry was site of an Arapahoe camp. In 1888, a Christian military school was built which later burned to the ground in a chemistry lab mishap in 1902. Up until 1932, Lowry was the site of a sanatorium for those seeking the benefits of the area’s climate. When the air force base was built, on Denver’s east side, it was named for Lt. Francis B. Lowry, a photographer who was killed in combat in 1918. The Denver base served as the summer White House for President Dwight Eisenhower and his wife and was a publicity stop for Charles Lindbergh after his flight across the Atlantic. When the base closed in 1994, many buildings were re-purposed and the new planned community of Lowry gave new life the Denver metro area.
